A story about skiing and cool people

It’s already a cliché, but we really are lucky—we keep running into one amazing person after another.

Since beauty lies in images rather than words—that’s how it is these days—we’ll begin the story below, after this moment captured somewhere far from the noise and unhappiness.

Skiing is, perhaps, the most beautiful sport in the world. I’m biased—it was love at first sight. I was 5 years old, sledding in a village near my grandparents’ village, and that’s where I saw skiers in person for the first time. They captivated me for life. When you’re on skis, you’re free— truly free—you glide wherever you want; it’s like flying, a child’s flight.

Skiing is also about“togetherness.” We went on those trips through the Bucegi and Făgăraș Mountains “together”—otherwise, they wouldn’t have any charm, they wouldn’t make sense, and they wouldn’t even be safe. I’ve accumulated so many stories to tell, and I’ve made such wonderful friends.

There are many kinds of happiness —no, I won’t go into the Greek theories. We all know it: happiness really does come in many forms. On skis, I’ve relived the happiness of childhood—a pure, sincere, unadulterated happiness. I’d also say that no, it’s not a happiness based on pleasures; it’s something higher, something deeper—it’s something that sets you free, that doesn’t constrain you.

Freedom – Friendship – Happiness

These are the values that Felicia, the founder of the Felicitydtp project, has identified as the foundation of this story. Coincidentally, I, too, believe in these same values when I think about skiing—and especially about my more than 20 years of skiing. Perhaps they’re universal—I don’t know—but I’d really love to hear your thoughts as well (see the comments section below).

We built this brand with the three values mentioned above in mind. We kept the design simple, using an ancient symbol—the badge—and the “S” of the Christian sisters and the parties to illustrate the essence of the brand.

We started the design with a very simplified concept (II—two parallel lines meant to symbolize skis). However, we weren’t able to convey the idea of friendship and camaraderie this way. The idea of the badge helped us illustrate this important aspect.

The website is built along the same very simple lines. We used a calendar to highlight course availability and focused on photography. I highlighted the articles section and the testimonials section. Felicia has collected a fabulous number of testimonials over her many years of working with people, especially children.

There’s a lot to say about skiing. Much of it will only make sense once you’ve skied down from Cota 2000 to Cota 1400 in Sinaia at least once. You can learn more about Felicia and her story right here on the website. Other than that, take care, and let’s hope to see each other safe and sound on the slopes—may God be merciful and send us snow this year in Romania, in the ski resort areas.
