Welcome to Taipei!!
Sorry, this is Bucharest
The prize will be 50,000 lei gross, with this amount representing the exclusive transfer of copyright—unlimited in time and space, on any physical medium and in all forms—to the Municipality of Bucharest, for the use of the work that is declared the winner.Along with the Mayor, the jury also includes: Prof. Mircia Dumitrescu, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, Arts, Architecture, and Audiovisual Section; Adrian Majuru, director of the Bucharest Municipal Museum; Anca Boeriu, lecturer in the Graphic Arts Department at UNARTE; Dr. Vladimir Nicula, lecturer at the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism; Ioana Ciocan, Vice President of the Union of Visual Artists; Dochița Zenoveiov, brand innovator at “INOVEO”; Bogdan Naumovici, managing partner at “23 Communication Ideas”; Corina Vințan, managing partner at “Links Associates”; Mirel Palada, sociologist. The jury will evaluate and score entries based on the following criteria: relevance to the contest theme; appeal/attractive design; originality (combining elements that reflect Bucharest’s historical tradition with elements that take current trends into account): functionality (visibility and legibility; it must be easily recognizable and capable of being printed on small surfaces without losing essential details); adaptability (it should allow for the subsequent development of sector-specific brands, such as: Cultural Bucharest, Tourist Bucharest, Musical Bucharest, and Sports Bucharest). The five criteria will carry equal weight in the evaluation of each entry, with jury members awarding each entry a score from 0 to 20 for each criterion.
To err is human, but making a mockery of it should not be considered normal, nor should it be accepted by the city—by the people of Bucharest who pay their taxes and who have cast their votes.
I sincerely regret this event, which once again highlights our mediocrity in the fields of communication and design. I regret seeing a number of prominent figures from this profession on the jury.
I regret that the young people of today and tomorrow have even fewer role models and good examples to follow in this country. Thank God Romania doesn’t cover the entire planet and that the internet exists.
I know that in this country, even in the fields of design, communication, and branding, there are highly capable people—people who have studied, people who are talented, who are passionate, who respect their craft, people who have time, and who have COMMON SENSE. I believe in them. That is why I completely disapprove of this sad event organized by the Bucharest City Hall.
#resist #CommonSense
