Nuci – Branding and Packaging Design Project
The “Nuci” project is a creative exercise in the sense that, in 48 hours, we set out to solve a business problem with a design solution.
It all started with a request we received from a potential client regarding our ability to get involved in a project in which we would have had to develop the brand identity and communication (including packaging) for a business that develops nut-based products. Basically, there was a large supply of nuts and a need to do something with them that would create value.
It seemed to us like a very simple and very generous exercise that encouraged creativity.
After an internal brainstorming session, we came to the conclusion that it would be ideal to create a snack from these nuts—beautifully packaged—that could be enjoyed anytime, any way. We knew that an ingenious combination of walnuts and another product would have been much more appealing to the public, but now wasn’t the right time—the brief didn’t allow us to stray from the topic of walnuts.
We explored other areas as well—nuts for pastry chefs, nuts for food manufacturers, nuts for cooking—but we decided to go with the idea of nuts for the general public, in packaging that makes you want to discover what’s inside.
From there, everything went very smoothly with this branding project—we designed the logo, chose the right colors, and created the packaging. These steps were carried out according to specific processes (which we developed at Toud), with the difference being that the timeline was compressed so that we could deliver a result within 48 hours.
This branding project was a creative sprint that not only helped us test our processes and see how well they work under time pressure, but also allowed us to explore solutions and ideas without constraints for a very clearly defined problem.
